Core 150™ is committed to working with the International movement Marys Meals who provides essential daily nutrition for chronically hungry children in their local Schools across the world. By doing so the hungry child is encouraged to attend school, and through appropriate nourishment can gain a better education and future whilst helping the child become altogether more healthier.
Overview
Founded in 2002 The organisation was originally set up as a one off school feeding programme by Scottish International Relief, and now provides daily meals for around 500,000 children in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe. Through supporting Mary Meals children are able to ascertain the necessary food needed to maintain an education and help lead an altogether more active, healthier life.
In Malawi, Mary's Meals provides over 479,000 school-children with a daily mug of maize-based, porridge-like Likuni Phala which is a powerful incentive for them to go to school and, for many, the only nutritious meal they will have that day. The Likuni Phala that Mary's Meals provides in Malawi is a porridge designed by nutritionists, consisting of maize flour and ground soy beans, milk powder, vitamins and minerals and a small amount of sugar — key elements of a balanced diet.
